    Topic: Status Epilepticus in Children

Status Epilepticus (SE) is the most common neurologic emergency in children and requires prompt recognition and treatment to reduce morbidity and mortality. The prognosis of paediatric SE depends on etiology, age, duration /stage of SE, with etiology being the most relevant predictor factor. SE mortality ranges from 3 to 11%. A global reduction of morbidity and mortality has been documented in recent years, possibly due to more appropriate treatments and an improvement in practices in paediatric ICU.

The webinar will therefore address the classification and the etiology, and mainly the therapeutical approach to SE, from the out of hospital setting to the Refractory and Super Refractory stage.
Speaker: Professor Federico Vigevano, EPNS Board Member, Head of Neuroscience DPT, Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, Rome, Italy
Chair: Professor Dilek Yalnizoglu, EPNS Board Member, Paediatric Neurologist at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey
